The kids from all over town chatted away with friends and neighbors until seconds before the bell sounded.
As one girl returned to class with a pass held in right hand, she spotted someone cuddled in the corner. He looked as if he hoped to camouflage with his surroundings. As she walked up closer to him, she realized it was one of her classmates. Not wanting to stare, but shocked to see him in such a gloomy state, with outstretched hands, she embraced him.
Moments later, he began cry out of the depths of his soul, as he whispered to her, “I wanna die”. Without much thought or hesitation, she began to utter these words:
Father, show him Your compassion. Forgive him, for he knows not what he has done. Help his unbelief.
Like Your Samaritan, I come standing in the gap for someone who is the same place I once was.
Father, he is asking the same question I once asked You, ‘ Daddy, when can I come Home?’
Right now, Father, I expect You to show him his exodus, the one You provided for him reside under at this time.
Amen
The boy began to sing quietly, two times, Daddy, I need You now. Then, he says, “Woops, I better be quiet and get to class, before I get in trouble”. The girl said, “Man, I got your back, what you just did is called, Praise. You sealed your request with praise. Just like you send a letter to someone and you seal it with love, you sealed your with praise, with expectancy”. The boy says to her, “Hey”, looking at her, “guess what?” She turned and responded, “what’s up?” “I gave my life to God as we conversed.” As she put her hand out to help him get off the floor and out of the dusty corner, she noticed a man turning the corner. She thought it be the principal, but after hearing the voice tone, she thought not. The girl continued to say hello and help him off the floor.
As they stood to walk away, he realized it was his father. The boy’s father began to talk attitudinally and negatively, while he, the boy just stood and respectfully, looked him in the eye. When the father was done talking, the father said, “aren’t you going to answer me.” The boy responded, “I will always respect you, but I must start responding to my Heavenly Father, as of now. Here are the keys to your house. I have no need of the things that are in your house. Having nice things is luxury, having a place to peacefully lay my head is a necessity…if you will consider trading your addictions for a relationship with God, give me a call…until then, remember, God loves you.
The boy began to walk away reaching for the girl’s hand and as they held hands, the father yelled, “ I know, it’s all about her.” The boy motioned for her to walked back with him to where his father stood and he said, “ Truth be told, if it were not for this Samaritan, it is possible that you would have found your gun to my head when you came home tonight. Just so that you know, I chose moments ago, to see it to the day of my wedding, not to lay in my casket.
By this time, the girl was ready to make a phone call or two, but instead she prayed within herself. The boy got the nerve to walk away this time as the father convinced himself it was time to go to work. Now that the father is down the hall some distance, they are talking and as they reach their classroom, her youth pastor turns the corner when the father is out of sight.
The boy stood amazed. As she ran up to him and pulled him around the corner, the boy followed her. She introduced him and expressed their need to use the office. She agreed and he contacted officials concerning the boy’s status.
By the end of the day, the boy was at peace within himself. After school, they did their homework in the library and went to some church activities until it was time for dinner at her house.
