Up in the Northland, winter’s here
the days are short and the nights are clear
And when temps reach zero degrees
everything has started to freeze
Ice and snow, a cold wind blows

Up in the Northland, slick, slick, slick
It is hard to move real quick
Wearing a scarf to hide my nose
and extra socks to warm the toes
A ten pound coat is what I wear
to protect me from the frigid air

It is hard to move real quick
Walking like a penguin over snow and ice
trying not to fall but slipping twice
Starting the car two hours before
taking a trip to the grocery store
Ice and snow, a cold wind blows

Up in the Northland, slick, slick, slick
It is hard to move real quick
Six more inches then came down
making it hard to get downtown
And driving now is becoming a feat
when all the roads are covered with sleet

It is hard to move real quick
Five hours later, I reach the mall
and I finally start to thaw
Across the lot I now traverse
in a snowstorm that’s getting worse

It is hard to move real quick
Safe at home I finally get
and on the couch I warmly sit
In a loud voice I proudly sing
"Six more months and then it’s spring"
