It is rare for us to have a white Christmas. It is more likely that we will have an ice Christmas. However, when we do get that blanket of snow it is so peaceful to look out in the early morning and see the undisturbed freshness. I am always reminded of the blood that covered me to make me as white as that snow.
Most people think of the birth of Jesus at this time of year. When that snow comes it reminds me of why that birth had to take place. Why a mother who held her brand new baby boy on a winters night had to later watch him die so that I could be as white as snow.
What an enormous amount of love God has for me that he allowed his Son to die. Today, if I knew that the death of my child would ensure my loved ones would spend eternity in heaven, I wonder what decision I would make. Thank you God that I don’t have to make that decision. He has already made it and the price has been paid so that everyone could spend eternity in heaven. How can people turn from him after the sacrifice he gave? How would you feel if your child died to save another and then that person chose not to accept that salvation?
Have you chosen to accept the salvation God offers? If not, will you choose today? Admit that you are a sinner and ask for God to forgive you. Open the door to your heart and allow him to come in. Then, not only in the winter but all year long you can sing…
*How precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
