Once we started moving for my husband's company, we lived in several different states. We lived up in the Ozarks of Missouri, on the Gulf coast of Mississippi and in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Even as young as I was at that time, I still appreciated the wonders of the beauty of the ocean, hills, sunsets and the natural elements of Gods gracious handy work.
For the last year, I have been living in the mountains of Pennsylvania. When I first moved up here, I would just park in the parking lot of a fast food place and talk on my cell phone to family and friends telling them that I was just looking at the most awesome sight to be held. How does one describe to someone far away the mountains reaching so high up in the sky, the sky being so blue and the air clean and fresh?
The winter last year was like living in a winter wonderland for months. The snow came covering the ground and stayed and stayed and stayed. I had to buy a broom just to sweep the snow off my car. I could not use one of those small handled brushes because it was pointless. I also bought my first ever snow shovel and used it so much because the side walk had to be done several times a day just to get to the car and I also had to clear a spot for my dog because the snow was higher than he was. The snow would not give up and gave one more blast of its flurries covering everything on Easter sunday in March.
Spring came with budding and blooms galore. The green leaves came peaking their heads out after such a cold winter. The flowers burst forth in an array of yellows, pinks, purples and mixtures that were undescribable.
Summer came with all of the outdoor activities. The weather was mild and did not require a lot of air conditioning. The temperatures never reached the highs like down south.
The fall had leaves of every color ranging from orange to red to yellow to gold. As I looked out over the mountains, I could imagine God taking a paint brush and just touching a dab of color here and a dab of color there. I don't think man could have planted the trees and invisioned years down the road the awesomeness of the color scheme.
Now the winter is here again with one small snow already just to tease us of what is to come.
The whole last year up here where there are actually all four seasons has been the best year ever. The magnificent splendor of beauty has once again made me very aware of who is in control of this earth that we live on.
No matter where I may live in the future, I will try my best to look and see the beauty around me even if it ends up being back in the flatlands of Missouri...
