Topic: Fruit (10/10/05)
"The fruit of the Spirit's not a CHERRY. The fruit of the Spirit’s not a CHERRY, so if you want to be a CHERRY, you might as well be, but you can’t be a fruit of the Spirit. ‘Cause the fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” I've always liked that song. Have I ever really listened to the words? The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. …Patience, huh? Yeah, I thought that was the word I was singing. Patience is a hard one for me. How impatient am I when it comes to the things my heart desires? Doesn't the Lord have amazing things in store for me? Do I really believe it? I do, you know. I seriously know in my heart and mind that there is a plan in place for my life, and that I don't have to worry about or want for anything. God has always been faithful to me, as He has promised He would be. If this is the case, why do I spend my life worrying about things? I don’t worry about basic needs being met, but when it comes to my future marriage and career, I wonder why I can’t just let Him do His thing, have His way, and have control over the things in my life that will happen in the future. I just get too caught up in circular questioning, as if the more I analyze myself, the better I will feel about it all. I think to myself that maybe I won’t marry or have a great job, that until I learn to be completely content with where I am, He won’t bless me with those things. Then again, maybe He will move me into those things as He feels I am ready for them.
Patience and trust are easy to say I have, and hard to act out. Lord, I ask that you give me the courage and PATIENCE to trust you for the things I can’t see, for my life. You have called me to know You and to trust You. The more I know You, the more I trust. Renew the desire in me to know You more, Amen. “The fruit of the Spirit’s not a BANANA, the fruit of the Spirit’s not a BANANA, so if you want to be a BANANA, you might as well be, but you can’t be a fruit of the Spirit. ‘Cause the fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Ahhh, patience. How I wait patiently, for it; repetition totally intended right there. I hear that repetition it the mother of all learning. Thank you Lord for Your patience, I pray that I would be more like You, living my life in perfect patience and trust.

An clearly written, honest and sincere journal entry and prayer. You struggle with an issue that few people I know of have truly conquered. I like the way you come full circle and bring the reader back to the song. As a block of text, though, it is difficult to read. Help the reader along by breaking it down into its separate thought component. PM/email if you'd like me to show you what I mean.
