Topic: Anger (01/24/05)
There are so many paths we can choose to take as we continue our walk with God. We never really know where those paths will take us. We can only pray and believe they will lead us to our final destination. That destination for all of us is constant, in that, we all hope for the same goal. That goal is one of peace.
It's difficult to find such peace if we find ourselves cloaked in anger.
We can be convinced that we are doing all of the things that He wants us to do. We are in prayer, continually. We are filled with His love and show it to others and we do our best to do what Jesus would do in any given situation. All is right with the world.
Out of no where, for no reason, some small thing takes shape, someone makes a comical remark, or the cat knocks over the vase on the freshly ironed tablecloth and we find ourselves completely consumed with anger.
Where did it come from? Why is this happening to me?
We are swept from the threshold of peace to violent outbursts in an instant.
Our heart races, our eyes bulge, blood pressure rises and articles of love are hurled across the room. Our voice surrenders it's peaceful sound and a rumble from deep within makes it way from the pit of our stomach to the opening on our face, bringing words that no one should be forced to endure.
Our peace is stolen from us and once again, we find ourselves walking down paths marked with memories of places we haven't been in ages and don't want to go again.
Scarey places. Those places we have tried so hard for so long to stay away from. We hear screams of anger coming out of our once peaceful soul that take us to levels of recognition. It makes us realize who we are without Him; who we are without His peace; who we are without His love.
His Holy Spirit takes hold of us once again and calms our soul, reminding us of the price He paid for our peace.
We remember that we stay away from where anger leads and we ask for His forgiveness; Again.

Puts me in mind of the admonition that if we have anything againse a brother, we need to take care of it, so that we can come to the Lord and receive His peace. Thank you for your insight.
