Topic: Summer (the season) (07/09/09)
Once upon a time, a very, very, very, very long time ago, four siblings were born. They were born on the forth day. They were born on a planet called Earth. Their parents were the Sun, the Moon and all of the Stars. The parent of the Sun, the Moon and all of the Stars was Creator God. God also created the earth, the seas, the heavens, light, grass, herbal seeds, fruit trees, water creatures, fowls, great whales, cattle, creeping things, and a very complex couple that He called man and woman. The names of these four siblings are Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Summer is neither the oldest nor the youngest, she is right in the middle with Spring.

Summer has a sunny personality, and her life is mostly full of fun. She loves to do a lot of things in the water that God made. She loves to swim, surf and sail. She loves sports that man has made. She especially loves golf and baseball.

Summer has two homes that she lives in. Part of the year, in December, January and February she lives in the south, and the other part of the year, June, July and August she lives in the north. Summer has found this arrangement quite comfortable. It doesn’t matter where she lives though, everyone seems to love her and they want to be with her. Summer is very, very popular.

Summer is very happy with her life, and that happiness shows. Wherever she goes, she can brighten up a place. She is brighter than Autumn; she is brighter than Winter; and she is even brighter than Spring, even though Spring is quite cheery herself.
Summer feels like most people love her more than her other siblings, because they do not go to school when she is around. Many people that work also take their time off just to spend their vacation with her.

Summer is always teasing Autumn. She tells him that no one loves him, because he takes away from her fun, and he is nearly as bad as Winter’s gloom. Autumn is the youngest of them all. Autumn’s favorite colors are orange, yellow and red. These colors reveal Autumn’s personality as being warm, but sometimes, he can be quite cool.

Summer feels that Winter can sometimes wear out his welcome. When Winter comes to visit, he doesn’t seem to know when to leave. Winter, the oldest of the four siblings, can be quite bleak at times, and bitter, Winter can be very, very bitter. Sometimes Winter is downright snow. People stay in their houses a lot when Winter is around. Winter does have his days, sometimes Winter is very generous and when he comes around he brings with him gifts, lots and lots of gifts.

Summer thinks about her sister Spring, who was born right before her. Sometimes Summer is jealous of Spring, after all, Spring is younger, and Spring is fresher. Summer notices that a lot of people do seem to favor Spring too. Spring is flowery, and when she comes around, Spring leaves a sweet-smelling scent of perfume. Summer is also jealous that Spring seems to have more favor with rain.

Summer needs to quit looking at the faults of her siblings. Summer needs to quit comparing herself with her siblings. Summer needs to appreciate her siblings for who they are. Summer needs to realize that all of them have their own special gifts. Yes, there are many people out there that think that Summer is superb, but there are also people out there that think Winter is wonderful, and Autumn is awesome, and Spring is sensational.

Personification... an interesting angle to take on the presentation... I liked it quite alot.

This was a clever approach to the topic. Like the way to show the likes and dislikes of the seasons. Mine favorite by far is the Spring for many of the reasons you mentioned.

Cute story! I personally thought the repetition of the name Summer was a little distracting toward the end, but otherwise it was an excellent and original piece.
