Above the earth, towards heavens door
Through salty air and swollen waves,
Is how I spend my summer days.
The beach is where my life begins
As I dance upon the wind,
From here to there in someone’s hand
To touch, to feel, the cool wet sand
A warming sun caresses me
Inflates my insides heartily
I swell with pride, upon the tide
That drifts on out to sea
Then back again to dry safe land
To rest upon some warming sand
As sunshine turns to opal gray
Where sun and water closely lay.
Quickly as the nights about,
The fires light and stars come out
Beyond the pit you cannot see,
But hear the sounds of waves and sea.
Laying just beyond the light
Right now, no longer taking flight
I know this day is at an end
Until my playtime comes again.
