Deut. 1l: 18-20 (NIV)
18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,
Unfortunately, traditional family values have gone by the wayside, even in the Christian community. Parents are so busy with careers, clubs and activities for themselves and their family, they lay aside their most important role, time spent with God, and training their children the value of serving God with their whole heart. The Bible says to speak of the Lord when the sun comes up until it goes down, teaching your children about the ways of the Lord.
In today’s society, very few traditional family homes are left standing. Families are being pulled apart by the cares of society, while parents are wrapped up in their own selfishness, leaving their children to suffer the consequences. As a result, children will inadvertently search for the love and acceptance they’re lacking from home, through material possessions or unhealthy relationships.
Many parents today consider their children as possessions, to be raised by other people, while they peruse their own desire to succeed according to worldly standards. They are so preoccupied, they have neglected the most valuable thing that a family home should consist of, and that is, “TIME.”
