the staining dark, the pressured fear
the pretending all is fine, is light
but terrors rule the thought of night
straining hearts, to live the lie
the family rules to govern by -
the very ones, yes mum and dad
perpetuate the shiny clad
of family – so perfect now,
churchgoing, loving God – and how!
The Bible stories every night -
the hypocrisy wound so tight
the children here can hardly breathe
and then in steps a pure reprieve -
The uncle, aunt, once removed
though unrelated, has improved
the children's life – kind word, kind deed
their Christian life can be believed...
And while the smarting soul abides
to these the wounded soul confides
God's love, true love steps into breach
and proves His love is within reach
and now the children's life is moved
to living with the law-approved,
Uncle! Aunt! Your place is clear
though children you may never had to bear,
you can be a shining guide
to children whose family life inside
is rotting outwards – you are the ones
with spiritual daughters, spiritual sons
Be encouraged, your care is God appointed
your family truly God appointed
God bless the uncles, aunts who stand
and hold the children
and His hand.
