Beautiful Gifts from Our Father

How blessed we are through Christ Jesus. We have a heavenly Father who through His great mercy, forgiveness and love did everything for us before time began. By all, that God has done for us I feel humbled beyond description. I only wish I could put into words how thankful I am that I can serve God with gifts that He has so freely given. We cannot hide anything from God and if we think that He does not see into our hearts, we fool ourselves. Our heavenly Father loves us with a love that has no beginning or an end and He has further blessed us with gifts of service as well as gift of the Holy Spirit. Right about now, I feel like shouting Hurrah, Halleluiah, and Amen!

Trying to explain the gifts God has given us, I must go to the only place I can that explains it whereas all can understand. I sometimes am long winded as my friend said and than I still have not explained it well. I love God’s Holy Word. It is my lifeline and on His Holy Word, I depend.

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8 NIV

“Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge, by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” I Corinthians 12: 1-11 NIV

“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4: 11-13 NIV

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5: 22-23
There is one gift that I consider greater than all the rest. When Christ returns all gifts of the Spirit will cease but this gift will last for all eternity. “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.” I Corinthians 13: 13.

The above is just a few about gifts of the Spirit and of service. I hope I have shown how great our God is and all he has done for His children. All praise, honor and glory go to God the Father and Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior.

Thank you for sharing these scriptures. I'd have loved to have more of your own thoughts on them, examples from your life or the lives of others, etc.
