“Yeah I sure am. What time is it again?”
“He says come about five o’clock. ‘Bring a dish and a friend, for food, fun and fellowship’ that’s what his email said.”
“I hear he does this every month, what a great thing to do. Opening your home to others so that the love of Christ is demonstrated not just spoken from the pulpit.”
“Exactly, we were playing this game about “prosperity” the last time I went and boy did that open up a dialogue. We shared some scriptures and thoughts and I think the casual setting allowed people to open up more for a discussion.”
“Okay, I’m going to ask Henry and his wife if they would like to come. You know they’re expecting their first child in a couple of months. He was telling me that since he just recently became a Christian, none of his old buddies come around anymore. They think he’s a new kind of square.” Will laughed.
“Hey yeah, make sure you do. He needs to see that Christians still have a good time. We always begin with a prayer and before leaving we have prayer and if they’re any special requests we have prayer of agreement. A couple times in the past someone accepted Christ that night.”
“Wow! I heard about these fellowship nights, Brother Les, isn’t the only one I know of. I think I’ll start having people over too maybe once a month or once every other month when my schedule allows. What about you Oliver?”
“You know I was thinking the same thing. It’s funny how we can allow our busy lives to get in the way of one of the most basic purposes of Christian living.”
“And that is?” asked Will.
“FEED MY SHEEP!” they said in unison laughing.
“I see you have been paying attention to the Sunday morning message. In the end it’s not what God can get to you, but how you let Him work through you.”
Acts: 2:46-46, King James Version
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
