Anger is deadly. If you visit the doctor with the complain of high BP or cardiac problem, one of the suggestions of the doctor will be, “try to control your anger”. Yes! Anger can be fatal. But suppressing anger is unhealthy and expressing it impulsively has negative consequences.
The major adverse effects of anger are as follows:
• Anger kills the emotion of others: sometimes when we get angry and use some foul languages or speak badly to the person on whom we get angry can kill his emotion and feelings for you. It can be hurting to the extent of committing suicide also. There are many instances we find in our daily newspaper regarding suicide cases for ‘scolding of teachers and parents’.
• Anger destroys relationships: this is a very common phenomenon we see in our family and society. When somebody gets angry with somebody the victimised person always tries to stop talking or break the relationship. Many a times there are incidences of family quarrels, divisions, divorces etc. and the culprit is ANGER.
• Anger disturbs the mental balance: when we get angry with somebody we really could not concentrate on our own work. We feel disturbed, hurt. We lose our mental peace. We forget our daily routine because of anger. If we are angry for some events in the office we unnecessarily shout at our family members. Anger also increases our Blood Pressure. We literally lose control over our own self because of anger.
Thus anger is so fatal. Therefore controlling anger is very important in our daily lives. Anger is also a sin. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:26 “…don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry”.
So, friends! Let us not get angry to be victimised by the anger itself. Anger is not our boss but we are the boss.
