This day I remember well because my eight year old son spent a good portion of the day outside fishing at Turtle Lake. Since he was so persistent with it, I decided to join him. It had been a while since I had been fishing myself, so it took me a while to get my pole ready to go since my husband was working and not there to help me. Finally ready to spend the rest of my day fishing with my son, out the sliding glass door I went.
Well, after about 15 minutes and not even one “nibble,” I was already thinking about giving up. Another 15 minutes, and I commented out loud, “you really have to be patient to fish.” To which my son replied, “Maybe that’s why Jesus chose fishermen.” I sheepishly told my son that he was probably right!
Needless to say, I settled in for a long afternoon of fishing after that. The good thing is that Martin caught a rather large bass – his reward for being patient and faithful!
