Topic: Volunteer (11/23/06)
As a volunteer, my wife Tonya and I have found this servitude to be very satisfying and rewarding. We are presently teaching 6th and 7th graders at our church home, some call it Sunday School, others call it babysitting. My wife and I call it preperation, as we prepare these young warriors for the challenging years of middle and high school. We have been blessed to have this opportunity, and we give God all the glory, each and every Sunday. Of course our textbook cannot be found in the public school system, which makes this opportunity even more crutial, and critical that we guide them slowly, correctly, and reverently. We end our class each Sunday with a group prayer, which gives each student the opportunity to open his/her heart and publicly pray for family, friends, and loved ones. Some of these prayers can take on a mature level not associated with middle schoolers.
Volunteering has nothing but rewards, as we give all glory to our Creator, and prepare the way of the Lord.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!! A few minor things - in the 2nd sentence, the comma after "church home" would be better as a period, then start a new sentence with "Some call it". "Crutial" should be "crucial". I love "My wife and I call it preparation" Good job - great message!

Sunday school teachers are so needed, but most churches always have a lack. My church has to beg! I enjoyed the read, but was waiting for more! Possibly you could continue with descriptive writing about the middle-schoolers and how their prayers gave indication of their life cricumstances. Just a thought!

This was lovely. I teach the four year olds in my church and I agree that it is nothing but rewards. I feel very blessed for the opportunity. Thank you for portraying those feelings so well.
