Surrendered life

My grandmother’s health has been deteriorating for years. This past week it’s been worse; she’s going downhill fast and nearing death. This is not something I have ever wanted to deal with. I remember spending time and playing with her as a child. Seeing her in a close to death situation is hard to accept and handle.
I know for a fact though that she has God in her life. She has done everything to be able to see her Lord when she passes from this earth. I’m not worried about her I’m more worried about the family that she will be leaving behind. Death is always harder on those that are left behind. Although we have fond memories of the recently departed, the pain stings and stays for what seems like an eternity. It doesn’t last forever though.
I am completely powerless over my grandmother’s condition. There is nothing I can do to change it. I cannot make her better or heal her pain. I am powerless. I cannot anticipate when God will take any of my family or friends home; I can only rely on His strength to get me into acceptance over it. I have to trust that He will give me the ability to cope with death. I have to surrender my life to God in order to have a life.
My life is a gift from God. I had nothing to do with it. My parents had nothing to do with it. Their DNA helped contribute to who I am, but God created me. The greatest thing I can give to God is my life. I need to surrender it back to Him and allow Him to work in me. I cannot take credit for my life or anyone else’s.
I cannot create a life. If I tried I’d be bound to forget some important detail such as a liver or kidney. God forgets nothing when He creates us. He creates us and equipped us with everything we will need to survive and thrive. He left nothing out and nothing to chance. I cannot be perfect enough to create anything that can sustain life. Although we may think we need something in life, the only thing we truly need is God to direct us. Our needs are fulfilled; our wants are just extra pleasures that help our enjoyment.
I love life today. I see so many more things than I did before I had Christ in my life. This doesn’t mean that I was blind before; it just means that I was oblivious and didn’t take the time to see the miracles God has placed in my life. I see that all the friends I have were placed by God so that I can receive help in different areas from different people.
Although my career is not where I want it to be, God has me in my current for a reason. He knows my hearts desire and what I want to do with my life but He also knows the outcome. JEREMIAH 29:11
I put my life in God’s hands to have a much more fulfilling and enriched life. The life I lead is not mine; it is God’s. He allows me to rent my earthly body in order to give it back to Him. This is what He wants from me. My life surrendered is more blessed than if I was just taking control and doing whatever I feel like doing. I have to allow only Him to give me direction and tell me what to do. When my earthly life is over I will return to the most majestic house of all; the house of the Lord and have everlasting life.

I like your line about forgetting something like a liver or kidney. Good message with just a hint of humor in spots. Nicely done.

Thanks for this wonderful testimony to His faithfulness to transform your thinking! It's clear you have a good command of words, and a heart to exhort others to higher faith.

As I read this, I felt your message could be strongest in the form of a story. Your readers need to connect with you emotionally in order to best receive the lesson. Dialogue, action, thoughts--all can be used to show your message, rather than simply state it--although you stated it well! I was drawn in by your mention of some disappointment in your career. That might be a great place to start from. Have fun with this--I'll look forward to seeing more of your pieces!
