Remembering that Robert Frost, took “the one less traveled” too.
My thoughts were drifting back to another time and place
When dinosaurs roamed these hills, before the human race.
Survival of the species was not an easy task
With comet strikes and ice flows and pockets full of gas
Years of evolution would be put to the grand test
It seems the smaller ones survived and nature killed the rest.
Survival of the fittest did not seem to apply
The biggest and the strongest were the ones that seemed to die.
Maybe there’s a lesson here, it’s not how big you are
But how well you adapt is more important by far.
The transformation now complete, the butterfly takes flight
On lovely iridescent wings he flies off in the night.
A caterpillar’s slow and is very easy prey
But now when he’s in trouble he can always fly away.
Maybe we should learn this lesson from our ancient past
You don’t have to be too strong or even very fast
You just need to find a way to change whenever needed
We’ll be around much longer if natures’ plan is heeded.
