He carried on fixing his car. He hadn’t said anything, hadn’t tried try to stop her, nothing. But then again, what had Sarah expected? She always played second fiddle to his friends, car, in his life…
Sarah shook her head, trying to get rid of the old feeling of worthlessness and pain rising up again. She had worked really hard to get over all of this but in the tiniest moments of weakness they surfaced unexpectedly.
Now she was in a new relationship with an amazing guy who loved her, cared for her, put her first and the doubts started appearing again. “How do I get rid of these feelings Lord? I know you have blessed me with him, everything seems just right except for these feelings. What if he leaves me, what if he picks up on my insecurities and thinks I’m not good enough? What if …?” Sarah’s alarm interrupted, breaking into her thoughts.
“Time for church already! Time flies when you are having fun! This was supposed to be my quiet time.” she thought. “I really shouldn’t be going to church in this state of mind. I wonder if I should stay home.”
“Mum, are you ready?” Ben asked. “Today I am going to the Grade one class for the first time, let’s go, let’s go.”
Sarah really didn’t want to disappoint Ben as he had excitedly been looking forward to the new class at Children’s Church, constantly asking what day it was and jumping out of bed when he found out it was Sunday.
“Ok, let’s go Ben.”

This was an unexpected, spirit-filled, service, a break away from the conventional. Sarah waited with curiosity as the Pastor called various people out to the altar, with God answering their prayers, meeting their needs, through him.
“Sarah,” she jerked as she heard her name. Slowly she got up and walked to the front. “What did God have to say to her?”
“You are worthy…” Sarah laughed and cried uncontrollably as the feelings of pain and worthlessness surfaced again, and left her.
“Thank you Lord.”
