Topic: TV (10/04/18)
The shrilling sound of the alarm clock still rang in Kate’s ears while she halfheartedly dragged herself out of bed. The kids were already awake. You could hear them in their typical toddler-tantrum state trying to open their bedroom door.



Kate couldn’t help but smile when the two adorable faces greeted her with wet kisses. These boys were such a blessing from God. The pain, discomfort and bravery it took to bring them into the world could not compare with the abundance of happiness they brought to her heart. Sometimes she had to pinch herself at the thought of her being a mother. It was a calling she cherished every day.



The light of the new day lifted the mood in the kitchen as she placed both her children in their seats. “Its breakfast time,” she announced with an exciting voice. A rumbling kettle, milk splashing against cereal bowls and the tapping of spoons ushered in the morning routine with a jingle of sounds. In the background you could hear the radio playing worship music, creating an atmosphere of joy and peace in the home.



Kate breathed in God’s presence for a moment. She knew it was her assignment in life to introduce her children to the reality of a loving Father. No matter where they were or what they did, she wanted her children to experience the character of God in a tangible way.



Initially it was hard to say yes to the call of motherhood. She had to make sacrifices, go without luxuries and lay aside some of her dreams. It was a process to completely yield to the Potter’s Hand. No longer did she have time for herself; not even to watch TV, take a bath or paint her nails. Yet, in the midst of playing hide-and-seek, singing Sunday school songs and building sandcastles, she could see something beautiful unfolding in her life. She was being molded into a useful vessel for God’s glory. The Good Father chose her to shape the characters of two spirits, to launch them like rockets into the world, and teach them how to dismantle the works of the enemy by loving Him. No price was too high, not even the cost of sleep. Oh,but how she loved sleep.



“Come on boys, it’s time to go and play,” she announced after they showed her their stomachs were full. She is a woman on an assignment. God settled and planted her as a joyful mother of children. This is indeed a day the Lord has made. She will give thanks, with dirty hands and paint-covered clothes, and be glad in it.

Nice story and wish we had more moms like that dedicated to raising Godly children. Not using the TV as a babysitter.

Good teaching thoughts. Well written and presented in this writing.

No matter what a woman's responsibilities be, when she has children, her responsibilities double.
