Home, is where Love is Spoken.

“Oh God, I need your help with Blessing “, I cried to God as I prayed,
“I can’t bear living with a child, so tormented and sad, so hardened, and I seem not to be able to get through to her, I need help Lord,” I prayed .

As I prayed that night, pouring my heart to the Lord, I remembered how Blessing came into my life:

I had come back from my travels and went to see Jajja (this means, grandmother), a relative. Through the open door, I saw a child playing by her self; she had sticks,tins,leaves and some pieces of cloth carefully arranged in front of her. She was dirty with flaky dry skin.
My heart went out to her.

I asked whose child she was, and was told; she was an orphan having lost both her father and mother, to AIDS-Acquired Immune Deficiency syndrome.
“She needs a wash”, that is the first thing that came to my mind.
Jjaja had enough on her hands without adding caring for a child, so I got a basin and soap and washed her and let her body dry as she stood in the sun…there was no towel; to be sincere, at this point that was the last thing on my mind. I then creamed her with the Vaseline I found in my handbag.

Back home, I rummaged in my sewing bag for any material to make her a dress.
I sat up the whole night and sewed her a white collared blue and white dress…with my hands, I didn’t have a sewing machine to ease my mission;actually,that dress is one of the best pieces I have ever made(just a hobby).When I took it to her, she was so happy. We called a passing photographer and took her picture.

Later I went and asked Jjaja if I could take Blessing with me to my home, all was arranged and Blessing came.

Blessing was the same age as my daughter Lisa, but she didn’t want to play or be with her.
Blessing would always retreat by her self to the bedroom, her only friend was Lady our cat. She could pour her heart to lady and tell her all that happened at school.
No one was getting through to Blessing. and that was breaking my heart.

…as I lay flat on my stomach in the presences of the Lord, I felt the Lord was telling me to talk to Blessing now ,in His presence,… and I did .

She then went and wrote me a letter….

Dear Mummy,
I have never in my life called anyone mummy, because I have never known one, but from today, you are my Mummy because that’s what you are to me, you are there for me every day, Its not that I don’t love you, but I just didn’t know how to say it, but now I do; I love you Mummy, you have given me a home where love is spoken, not just in words but in my heart too.
I love you Mummy.

Blessing.

After reading the letter, all I could do was to praise and worship the Lord, for indeed, He has brought a blessing in my home or shall I say blessings…
