Ah, but life is being produced during these times of apparent deadness. The trees and shrubs still have life. They are waiting for the call of spring’s warming breezes to burst forth. Seeds also lie dormant anticipating the touch of tender showers. Many animals have new life growing within as they prepare for the arrival of young.
Even so with the winter of the soul. The most difficult times of our lives are when we draw closer to God. Circumstances and situations can feel like the cold, raw blast of winter. We long for warmth and comfort. We seek a balm for our ravaged souls. The balm of a caring, loving Savior. One who knows our hurts, our sorrows, our deepest anguish. Jesus, our Savior, is waiting with out stretched arms for us to run to him.
Curl up in the cozy, peaceful, luxurious lap of Jesus. Cry tears of cleansing and joy as you release yourself into his total care. Feel your deepest longings met as he warms the blast of winter from your soul. Let yourself experience the joy, peace and contentment that can be found only in him.
Jesus has promised never to leave us or forsake us. His desire is that we cast all our cares on him. Don’t run from him. Let your winter drive you to Jesus. Let him carry the burdens and use the circumstances to build you up.
He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
He drew me out of deep waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
From my foe, who were too strong for me. Psalm 18:16-17 (NIV)
