Topic: Winter (11/14/05)
The maternity ward at the local hospital was at full occupancy that October, nine years ago. I was one of the pregnant women there at the end of October. My daughter was born and was considered a “blizzard baby.” This was because she was born nine months after a few weeks of non-stop snowstorms that winter. That year, the harsh blizzard caused a state of emergency. The highways were shut down and everyone was forced indoors. We lived in small trailer and the strong gusts were hard on the structure. At that time, my husband was home from the hospital. He was recovering from a hernia operation. Some men from church brought him home before the predicted snow. Therefore he did not have to go to work anyway. I was unemployed and did the shoveling of the snow off the sidewalk and the driveway. I read many books, played the musical keyboard, and wrote letters. I had prayed for a child. God answered that prayer and on that day the snowstorm had passed, the fresh snow looked beautiful.

Hannah prayed to the Lord also, and we know what praying from the heart can do; so wonderful to have first and Second books of Samuel. I love the snow; God’s beautiful gift to us too. Just keep on writing from the beauty of your heart.
