I strain to turn the valves just a little tighter, but there is no fixing the constant dripping of the bathtub faucet. It is part of very old, worn-out plumbing in this even older house. But for loving memories of dear family that lived here, it would have been torn down long ago.
“Drip, drip, drip.” Could there be a little melody in there somewhere? Or could the drips remind me of the drops of blood running down the face of my dear Savior when he hung on the cross for me? One drop covers the sin of my complaining as we live in this old house. A second drop covers the self-centeredness that grieves me; how I long to be Christ-centered instead. A third drop covers my temper outburst when patience and kindness would accomplish so much more.
How thankful I am for that blood which covers my dark sins and makes me whiter than snow in God’s sight. The Lord has turned my annoyance over the constant dripping to a song of thanksgiving for the salvation that is mine, all because Jesus hung on a cross as His life-blood drained out so I might spend eternity with Him.
