I was laughing the other day at a banana. It wasn’t the actual banana, but it was more the WORD banana that got to me. It’s kind of a funny word. I’m always amused at the “Name Game” song. You know the one...”Rosanna boebana banana...fee fie foe fanna”. Then they go into OTHER names...
“Let’s try PAULY...Pauly boe BALLY, foe fiddley faddly FALLY, fee fie foe...Pauly...”
Sometimes, when I am sick and have a fever, that song gets stuck in my head. I really hate that. I’ll drag myself to the bathroom and try to brush my teeth and my brain will be cheerily singing, “Teeth boe BEETH, foe fiddley faddly FEETH...etc”. At times like this, I favor the DEATH PENALTY for whoever wrote that song.
But the point is that some fruits have funny sounding names. Take the Kumquat. Ha HA! Or the Tangelo.
The Kumquat sounds like a relative of “Bigfoot” and the Tangelo sounds like a Spanish Dance. “C’mon everyone!! Let’s do the TANGELO!! Our special guest tonight, right out of the forests of North America, is Sasquatchs’ little brother, K U M Q U A T !!
Silly stuff I guess, but I like to take my mind out for a walk now and then, and this is where it prefers to go.
Funny thing though...For all the humor that their names imply, “Banana...Kumquat...Tangelo”, consuming them makes you forget the labels that are put upon them. When you peel away the outer layer, and enjoy them for what they are at their basic level, you can’t help but enjoy them.
People are like that too. Call them “Biker” or “Prostitute” or “Businessman” or even “Tax Collector”. Peel away the outer layer and you can enjoy them. You can be with them. You can consume them.
Silly Topic...Heavy Lesson.
Peeled any fruit lately?

HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHE
Lovely lesson--I agree about peeling off the outer layer, then you really know what the fruit is, and what it looks like, and how flavorful it is--which reminds me of persimmons-ever ate one that wasn't quite ripe?
God bless ya, littlelight
This would be a GREAT children's talk, with lots of interaction and visuals.
