When I was a child, the friends whom I accepted were from the same social standing that I came from.
My parents never went to any of my school functions that I was involved with, so therefore I felt more comfortable with those in the same situation that I was in.

I remember one time I had written a poem about a little fairy that came to rest upon a leaf in a very deep forest. The story went on to tell of a lonely little girl that came upon the fairy who invited the little girl to tell her of her life. As the little girl finished her story, the fairy told the little girl “ You are not lonely, because you have a family that looks after you even though they are not always with you.” I had won first prize in our school for that poem, and wanted my parent to be there for my award, but they did not come, even though I watched the door to see if they changed their mind.

When I became and adult, I still continued to socialize with the same type of adults. I still carried the same wistful thinking that in my life someone would come to see what I did.

One day I was introduced to a Savior named Jesus Christ, and on that day I became a dropout. I left behind the way of life where I was comfortable, and joined a group of friends who loved me, were involved in my life, and came to watch me as I began a walk down a different road.

Today I do not need to wait and hope, because Jesus is with me day and night. At every event in my life, He is watching and smiling at my accomplishments.
