Our earth is being torn in two. It is now unacceptable to mention Christmas in the workplace. Is the Church stinging the cuts of the earth? If we are truly the salt of the earth, why are we sitting back and letting commercialism take over Christmas in our world? Various civil liberties groups are trying to rob America of our Christian heritage. It is time for the Church of God, the true remnant, to stand up and fight back.
For we fight not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We must put on the whole armor of God and truly come to the battlefield. How many overweight and spiritually unfit soldiers are there in our midst? I have to speak for myself and acknowledge that I am not as physically fit as I intend to get. Who keeps tabs on us overweight, rundown, supposedly spiritual people? We must remember the scripture that says: “for bodily exercise profits a little” “crucify our flesh, buffet our bodies”, and get rid of the carnal thoughts that have been plaguing us. If we don’t uphold spiritual principles, who will be the watchmen on the walls in our place?
We each have a function in God’s army and now it is crucial to stay in position and fight. Salt is no good if it loses its saltiness. In pioneer days before refrigeration, people had to rely on salt to preserve their food. Have we let modern technology rob us of our saltiness? The word says: “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, and seek my face, I will hear from heaven and heal their land.”
America is hurting. People whose lives were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina are hurting. People who lost loved ones when the Twin Towers fell on 9/11 are hurting. Are we reaching out in love? Are we reaching out with the godly wisdom that tells sinners “we love you, but we cannot abide your sin?” Are we living for Jesus, so people can see Him in every word and deed that we do? Can we truly say that our actions speak as loudly as our words, and are we making a difference? Are we offering a couple of dollars to that homeless person on the street corner, even giving up our latte’ a day, or those two soft drinks or ice cream bars we thought we had to have?
This is not a soft essay. It is meant to stir us up and wake us from our lethargy. I am speaking to myself as well as you. It is time the people who call themselves Christians, i.e. the true church, realize we are the hands and feet and the body of Christ. It is time we let Christ be the head and operate in our place as the rest of Christ’s body. We must reach out to hurting Christians. Don’t tell a hurting Christian that they don’t need counseling; that is malarkey. I hurt for years, until I was able to get to a counselor who counseled me on Biblical principles. I was blessed to receive counseling from someone who insisted another woman attend sessions with me. I did not see that man alone. Tremendous healing took place during that time. He wasn’t afraid to be “salt” and we shouldn’t either.
Get back to basics. We don’t need a lot of hoopla, fancy buildings and fancy programs. The meat of the Word of God was good enough for the Old-time Saints and it surely couldn’t hurt the Saints of the 21st Century. Let’s rise up and make a difference. Let’s practice I John 1:9: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. No one wants to drink from a dirty glass, let’s allow God to cleanse our hearts, then we can serve the water of life to thirsty souls.

I got a bit lost here; it seemed to lack focus. You used quite a bit of "Christianese"--words and phrases that are very familiar to Christians, but may be glossed over because we have read and heard them so many times before. Seek out fresh ways to express these timeless truths.
