“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Hebrews 10:31
Because I fear my God and my Savior, I never fall into His hands; I am covered by them. I receive protection from the hands of my mighty host, and He has promised that I will never be lost.
All about me my enemies rage, yet God sets a table before me in their midst. Because I fear Him and not my enemies and because I follow in His ways, the Lord’s hands fill my cup with goodness and mercy.
In the waters of troubles when I should be afraid of my circumstances, God tends to me, calming the billowing waves that threaten to end my life, and should those waves sweep me out to sea, His very hands toss out the lifeline that bring me safely into His grasp.
The past, the present, and the future have no hold over me. My Father is the Great I Am. And wherever I was, wherever I happen to be, and wherever I go in the future, His Word was, is, and will be a light for each step of the path, and His hands will bid me safely follow.
Awesome is our Father who forgives us if we but ask. Wondrous is the love that satisfies those that reverence Him. Oh, but how fearful it would be to fall into the hands of the Almighty God if you have not found the marvelous fear borne from a deep love of gratitude. This same God who will one day taken righteous vengeance upon His enemies is the same God that freely sacrificed His son so that no one has to fall into His hands but can find protection in them.
