For me, speaking in front of large crowds takes confidence. Most of the time, I stutter like a bumblng fool. Actually it's better described as my throat closes up and I get dizzy. But that doesn't matter, in short, I would rather hide under a rock.
However, a couple of weeks ago I was serving as an assistant counselor for a Christian camp. On the last day, the camp had a talent show where some of the campers and I had put together a "Samson and Delilah" skit and I was narrator. I didn't have time to think about what to say. The entire act was put together just an hour prior to the show. I barely had time to say a prayer to God for support.
I was sure glad I had said the prayer though. At the end of the skit, I went onstage and related the moral of the story to the campers' personal lives. I didn't stutter once. I had nothing prepared, just let the words come to me as they would, and they did. I had no confidence in myself, only in the Lord. That's the only confidence anyone ever needed.
