My Dearest Father,
It is my extreme pleasure to be writing to You. From the time my older brother introduced us and You adopted me into Your family, I have had a completely changed life. Feeling secure in being wrapped in Your love was totally overwhelming to me. When You whispered, “My child…” my heart seemed to be instantly changed, and I have never been the same since.
The bitter anger, loneliness, fear, and hate I lived with, immediately disappeared. The affection, guidance, and protection You have given me since I became Your child, is more than I could ever imagine. From the time I first looked into Your eyes and You held out Your hand to me, I knew that You would always be my security. You held me close and never before have I been in the presence of someone as caring as You. Peace overwhelmed me and I knew it would last. The joy I felt in knowing You, strengthened me.
In the times that I have somehow become discouraged, You have been my encouragement, speaking gently to show me the way. In the times that I felt enticed from Your guidance, You gently led me back into the right path while walking beside me. In the times that I felt I could not keep going, You carried me through, until the time I once more felt life and strength again. You gave me wisdom when I was yet not so wise. In the times I once more felt I was heading toward rebellion, You laid Your hand upon my shoulder, and I instantly wanted to turn back to Your way.
In all the time we have been together You created immense pleasure in my heart. You made me laugh and sometimes, You made me cry until I could once more laugh again. Father, thank You for being my constant companion, then and now. Your presence has always been heartwarming. I have always loved talking with You.
In learning from the book You wrote for me, You have taught me to be sensitive to those who are hurting and lonely. It teaches me all about Your ways, giving me direction for everything that comes up in life. It means everything to me.
You were ever aware of my going out- my coming in, and You were familiar in all my ways; yet, You remained with me and I know You will forevermore. Thanks, Father for watching over me through all those years. How great is Your faithfulness and goodness.
Since the time of becoming a family member You have never looked upon me with condemnation but gently convinced me to be led back into the family. I have never regretted coming back. What I do regret is having caused You grief; but even for that, I know You have forgiven and forgotten my rebellion. You also helped me to forgive myself, when it seemed impossible. You always bring out the best in me. For that I am forever grateful.
When I slipped and placed my trust in man, who sometimes betray, I realized that You are the one who is trustworthy. I will never go wrong in trusting You. You are the one I wish to obey and please.
You, Dear Dad, are my dearest friend and will be for all eternity. You are the best parent anyone could ever have. I will be forever grateful to You. I love You with all my heart. I truly worship You.
