“First Squadron,” he barked, “report to the building and start dampening everything you can reach. You won’t be able to get to the cornerstone so concentrate on the rest. Second Squad, it will be your job to set the backfires; we’ll be using—“
“Sir?” One of the recruits interrupted eagerly, waving his hand in the air to be recognized.
The Fire Fighter clenched his jaw as he waited for the inevitable question, “Yes, what is it?” he asked.
“Sir, why don’t we just fight the fire instead of using wet blankets and lighting back fires?” the recruit asked.
The Fire Fighter’s darkly glowing, ruby wings unfurled with a snap, his black eyes blazed. Gnashing his fangs he snarled menacingly, “Understand this. There is no fighting this fire. It was set by the Lord Of Hosts and has burned out of control for 2000 years. The Fire is God The Holy Ghost, himself. The only weapons we have are against the hearts that the Fire burns in. We set backfires of temptation and dampen down their courage with the cares of this world, But the Fire rages on and will, in the end, consume us all.”
