“How will you know?” Molly asked seeming out of nowhere. “I mean, what will be that deciding factor, the bright yellow flashing sign?”
“I don’t know...” she wanted to do like Scarlet O”Hara and just think about that tomorrow. And in her foggy mind-set she decided that might just have to be ok. But the pressure was rising. And time was like a bomb. The longer she waited the harder it would be. Oh, how she hated decisions. Please someone take this bear off her back. This couldn’t be healthy. Did she really have to be the one to make such an enormous, life changing statement. Could just one little word, “yes” or “no” truly hold so much in the balance. Was she capable?
“Well, honey, you know what the consequences are in each direction, right?” Molly tried to help.
“I think” she breathed.
“Yes you do, safety guaranteed if you eliminate the pregnancy. But can you live with that? Isn’t that what we are trying to decide here? You are in great risk. Your life. Annie’s mother, Jake’s wife may not make it. Not to mention this unborn child. There are no guarantees Hope. You know that. Sweetheart, the risk is too much. I love you too much...”
Molly couldn’t keep up with herself. Her tears we sitting in her eyes about to fall and she knew her sister didn’t need to hear her persuasive speech. She needed to decide on her own.
“Trust Me...”
Hope heard a small voice. She wanted to trust God. She wanted to pray, believing, and hear His answer. But what if she died. Death. Why did it have to be so huge and up to her?
“Let Me decide”
As she allowed Him more control her thoughts began almost like film rolling in fast forward. A vision of a sweet baby, pink and screaming being laid on her chest. She reaches for him. Her baby.
Her mind was more clear as she began allowing herself to trust.
“I can do all things, believe.”
She now knew her decision. A weight was lifted and tears began rolling down her relaxed face. Praise God she knew.
“I trust You God. I will not limit You. I know we are in Your hands. No matter what happens, I am Yours. This is now Your child. Your decision. I am Yours.” Hope wept tears of joy.
Seven months later, a sweet baby boy was laid on Hope’s healthy beating heart.
