Previous Challenge Entry (Level 1 – Beginner)
Topic: Fulfillment (04/06/06)
The pink fragrant blossoms on an apple tree caught me by surprise today. Perhaps I thought the tree had forgotten how to bloom. Somehow, imperceptibly, it has crept up on me. The trees are beginning to bud and the birds are greeting the sunrise with singing, all signs of spring.

I feel the opposite. I feel uninspired, tired, and guilty about breaking all of my New Year's resolutions. Even in the midst of my lethargy, I can't help but rejoice at the feel of the warm sun on my skin, reviving a body that has grown tired of winter.

Look at how effortlessly the flowers blossom, the birds sing, and the sun brings it's warmth, fulfilling the promise of spring, year after year. How much more will the promise of spring be fulfilled in me?

If only I could be more like the lily or the sparrow that Jesus spoke of. I let my worries get in the way and forget to rejoice in every day. Every need I have will be provided. It's time to bloom and sing, and let the winter give way to spring.

And isn't it lovely how we don't have to achieve or do anything to receive the sun's warmth.

Very nicely written, an honest reflection of what many of us go through. Be careful of it's / its...easily corrected. This is a lovely piece.
