It’s not always easy being the mother of a preacher. People are people who can say hurtful things, and you never hurt worse than when someone hurts your child, but also a wonderful pride fills your heart. It’s easy to be proud of your children, but when they do the work of God it’s like a bubble fills your chest and joy so unspeakable burst forth inside you.
I’ve heard him preach many times since that night. Starting when he was thirteen and he bumbled his way through his first sermon in front of seventy people in our home church. He got a standing ovation. No, not because the sermon was great, it was disjointed, and hard to follow at times. He was our child, not just mine and my husband’s. He was the churches. Our Pastor was wonderful to him, giving him every opportunity to preach God’s word. But mostly he was God’s child.
When he was fourteen the kids and leaders of his youth group dubbed him Godzman, from 1st Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love patience and meekness KJV
He went to Bible College, but last October we had to call him home because we had lost my father. We were consumed with grief, he had died after being sick from a terrible rare disease, and it hit the family very hard. Our son officiated the funeral. He stood before the mourning and delivered hope and courage and peace to each of us. I looked at him, twenty-one and no longer that little boy who looked me in the eye and said, “I want to be a preacher Mom.” I looked at him and saw a Man of God, and realized he was a Preacher.

Please don't be dismayed when some of us oldies yell,"More white space please." :0)
At one time or another each of us realized what a big difference that makes in the reading and understanding of a piece.
