"In everything we ought to look to the end."-La Bruyere Jean de.

The word "end" in itself signifies limitation.It is a reality as long as we live in this world-captured in time and space.End is applied to almost all aspects of our everyday life.Then there is ofcourse death which marks the ultimate end of a person - an enigma to many.But any christian would agree to the fact that we all came from eternity and that's exactly where we are heading to. Based on this belief we can say that,the word "end" also signifies a begining - to an eternity without any end.In a way it speaks hope to us.

When Jesus came into this world, he had to face this concept of end. He knew about the limited time and resource he had to do his job."It is finished" he said while giving up his breath on the cross. His final words is the best description of a christian "End". A picture of finishing a task and getting back home!


For all of us who are living; "end" reminds us about the limited quantity and quality we have. We are not here to live forever and nothing of this world is perfect. Let us live in the light of this knowledge so that we may use every bit of resource we have in the best way and putting our hope in the quality of the " endless" eternity.

In my experience, it's best to avoid "word study." You have some great things to say about hope and eternity...but try to find ways to approach the topic without referring to the word as a word.

This short piece gave me lots to ponder.....Your use of the "end" is certainly true of so much in life. And yet there are some "ends" that can be new beinnings...the end of labour brings forth new life in the birth and when we come to the end of ourselves (our own resources) that is when God often steps in and creates a new beginning! Your piece encouraged me,in coming to the "end" of whatever to evaluate - particularly in the light of the scriptures and eternity. Thank you George, the way you have written is both new and fresh yet in essence ageless and timeless....
