I think that it’s kinda cool to be at the “End” of something. There’s a feeling of accomplishment that you can’t get anywhere else. The big long “slug” at the bottom of an iced Vanilla coke. The feeling of contentment at the end of a hard day’s work. The overpowering feeling of being at the end of the line at the bank or worse yet, the DMV.
It’s not at all like being “First”.
First means you get to do whatever you came for “Next”. Being at the End means that you have to wait.
I do a lot of thinking about the Christ in the Garden. He was finishing up His career. He had to wait for what was coming next. That must have been awful. And it must have been wonderful. Awful because he must have known what was coming in the moments before His death. Wonderful because He must have known what would be accomplished by His going to the tree.
What’s cool about it was that He didn’t let Himself get overpowered by the task at hand. He sweat His blood and then walked calmly back and stood in line...
To let the End...meet the Beginning...
