Wedding

Anticipation builds as she prepares for her wedding. Nervous nellie’s and bouncing butterflies take turns chasing each other inside her stately form. A scented bath, a song, a splash of ruse and a kiss from Father seal the deal.

The marriage has begun.

She looks lovingly into his eyes and ponders him. Yes, I know about this man but now begins the journey of knowing him. Should trouble rise will he protect me? Just what type of provider will he prove to be? When children come, what kind of father will he be? Will he be able to love me when I’m not very loveable? Will he be faithful to me?

She enters the marriage with a preconceived idea of what a union of man and woman should look like. She has expectations. Will she be disappointed, amazed or somewhere in between? That depends on what her unique expectations are.

Over time she discovers the answers to her pondering heart. To her horror she discovers it’s not about him being faithful to her, but her failure in being faithful to him. She is stunned to find herself struggling to love, to love this man that at times makes no sense to her. He speaks of things, wonderful things, ways of living beyond anything she has ever experienced. All she see’s is her failures. Failure at being that perfect mom, failure at being that perfect wife, failure at being faithful. It’s no longer will this man measure up, but now it’s can I meet my own expectations?

As even more time passes she is taken back. She see’s this Man, this Wonderful Man constantly and consistently be her Protector. Over and over again He stands tall and mighty, defending her at every twist and turn through their marriage. He has become much more than Protector, to her amazement He desires her friendship and companionship as well. Amazingly He Loves, with a ferocious Unquenchable Love that wins her troubled heart again and again. She is amazed at His leadership throughout the marriage. His mentoring, His tender guiding hands show incredible deft of dealing with the issues of life. Oh, can He raise children! And provision? We never lack, always enough for the Day.

Why is she so amazed at this man? She is amazed because she set her expectations to low. This Man exceeded her expectations at every point and then some. When she was ashamed at her unfaithfulness she expected rejection. Instead to her amazement she found forgiveness and acceptance. When she struggled to love her husband, to her amazement she received His Love without any conditions. No hoops to jump through, no tasks to perform perfectly, no if you do this or that, then I’ll love you. No, her husbands’ Love comes without any charge or fee.

Her Husband is Christ and He is Amazing. He always exceeds our expectations.

Without doubt, our view of God is far too low. We cannot begin to fathom His greatness and awesomeness. He is truly amazing!

That was beautiful... You write with such grace and yet with such grit. As a writer, you will be a force to be reckoned with. Keep at it, girly, and you'll surely whack the world with your writing ability. Good alliteration, too. One thing, though. At the beginning, you wrote "Wedding," and that was effective, but you never placed a period after word. And little things like that can turn a reader off, thinking you are an amateur, when you so clearly aren't. Pay attention to punctuation, and I say so because it takes one to know one, so to speak. Believe me, I do the blunders often when I'm writing too fast. Anyway, keep up the good work. Hope you win!

Wow! Lots of great thoelogy packed in here! And I really didn’t know it was Christ until the end. Nice surprise. Make sure you hit the Review button before you submit. Sometimes there are formatting issues when you cut and paste from Word. It eats up the spaces and clumps it all together. Otherwise, great writing!

You know how to write! Such great descriptive sentences. Wonderful job of expressing difficult emotions. As it went on I felt the “tease” of perhaps you were leading us to Christ, our bridegroom. Nice job.

I liked Ms. Nune’s suggestion to click review before submitting. I will do that from now on. Maybe that explains the lack of paragraphs and spacing in many of the pieces.
