Topic: JOIE DE VIVRE (delight in being alive) (08/18/16)
Psalm 37:4

“Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm34:7) If we are delighted with someone we are happy and even proud to know them. That's what this verse means to me. Ome day I read Deuteronomy 17:1, “Thou shalt not sacrifice to the Lord thy God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evilfavoredness: for that is an abomination to the Lord thy God.” Immediately the Holy Spirit said, “Don't you appreciate the righteousness of Jesus.” My heart was touched so deeply. I'm sure I must have cried. Of course I believe that Jesus is the sinless sacrifice for our sins. But in that moment it was as if I had never known him. The Holy Spirit wants to continually reveal Jesus to us in a greater way. II Corinthians 5:21 says that he was made to be sin for us though he KNEW NO SIN. The perfect savior that is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens. (Hebrews 7:26) He was the only one in heaven, or in earth, or under the earth, that was able to open the book in Revelation chapter five. Now I know more about what it means to rejoice in the Lord. He is still interceding for us today and we can truly delight in the Lord.

Not very long afterwards I came across another verse, Malachi 1:14. “But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the Lord of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathern.” Same thing, immediately the Holy Spirit said, “Don't you appreciate the righteousness of God.” Wow, the Holy Spirit really knows how to get our attention. God is a great King. He is the most high God that has the right to refuse or accept whatever is offered to him. Jeremiah 9:24 says that he delights in exercising lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth. Now I know more about what it means to fear the Lord. “Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” (Malachi 3:16,17)

We are so blessed to be alive and learning about our King. James 3:9 says that we were made after the similitude of God. He is like a person, a great King, and Jesus was called the Prince of life in Acts 3:15 “...the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.”

A lot of information here. Heavy stuff. Watch your spelling when you preview your piece. Very compelling thoughts in your piece. "Don't you appreciate the righteousness of Jesus." Should that be a question? Good job, keep writing!

You delightfully combined several bible verses to show that listening to God and following his ways brings joy as you looked toward heaven.

When we are baptized for the forgiveness of our sin we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) and among the fruit of the Holy Spirit is Joy. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
