He said “Now I expect more than that. It is time for you to grow up“. Just the other day He said, “It’s still important for you to keep growing.”
“I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food. Even now you are still not ready.“ 1 Corinthians 3:2
“But--- I haven’t missed going to church many Sundays since I was born. I add offerings to my tithe. I read the Bible through each year. I keep the Ten Commandments.”
“How about, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all your heart, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself? Aren’t you being self righteous?”
“Yes, Lord, please forgive me.”
“Are you always patient and kind? Are you never envious, boastful, arrogant or rude? Do you insist on your own way? How about being irritable or resentful? Do you rejoice in wrong doing but not in truth? Are you able to bear all things, believe all things, hope in all things and endure all things? Does your love never fail?”
“Forgive me, Lord.”
“There are sins of omission too, you know, like: not responding to another’s need, failing to really listen, withholding a kind word, a hug, a helpful hand, a phone call, sending a card or note, a visit or a prayer.”
“Forgive me, Lord.”
“Are the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart acceptable in my sight?”
“I guess this means that in a spiritual sense, I won’t be coming of age or graduating or retiring from being a Christian here on earth ? I’m sorry, Lord. Please forgive me. What should I do?”
“Remember that I love you, I forgive you and I want a relationship with you. Remember when you pray to include listening.”
“Yes Lord, thank you. I love you.”
