She felt her stomach muscles tense as she listened to him approaching the door. Her husband, Fred was arriving and judging from the noise, he was drunk, and accompanied by his worthless friends. A feeling of utter resentment filled her heart as she listened to him banging on the door. “ Now Sandra,” she spoke to herself as she walked towards the door, “ remember what pastor Anne said, win him over with love, nagging and arguing will just perpetuate the situation”. She said a quick prayer as she opened the door.
“ What took you so long women?” He bellowed as he planted a wet, smelly kiss on her mouth. She said nothing, only turned around and walked to the kitchen with him on her heels. His loud friends made themselves at home in the sitting room. He began opening the pots and asked: “What’s for supper? Can you serve some food for my friends and I?” At that moments all of pastor Anne’s wise council went though the window as Sandra attacked him: “How dare you ask me to serve your friends when you know very well that you left nothing to cook in this house. You spend your days drinking with your friends while I have to slave myself off to provide food and than still cook it when I get home!”
“Hush women, do you want my friends to feel unwelcome in our home? I am sure that this is not the kind of behavior you are taught in church”
“Don’t you tell me how Christian should behave, you are a slave to the devil’s brew!”
“Now dear, don’t talk in that manner about the fruit of the vine, you know that Jesus drank it with his friends and he even turned water into wine for the enjoyment of his people’
She hated it when he mocked her in this manner. She also knew that when it came to knowledge of the bible, she was no match for him. He was born and raised in the church. If he were not such a drunk he would be an exceptional theologian.
“Yes, but the bible also says do not get drunk with wine” she tried to put up some sort of a defense.
“Well then, it is a good thing that it was not with wine that I got drunk tonight, but with whisky” He laughed as he went to the sitting room to join his friends to drink the liquor that they brought with them.
Still mocking her he lifted up his glass to make a toast: “ To God, who provided us with the fine fruit of the vine for our enjoyment!”
His friends burst out laughing as the echoed: “ to God!”
She stayed staring at the door long after they had left to continue their drunken orgy. Could it be that God provided the fruit of the vine for his enjoyment and her torture? Sometimes it was very difficult to make sense out of God.
She once again braced herself as she heard him stumbling towards the door for a second time that evening. This time she would not to lose her cool. However, she was totally unprepared for the scene that met her as she opened the door. He was leaning against the doorpost, his face ashen, his clothes covered in blood. It was not the first time she saw him like this; after all, these parties did tend to get violent. But this time was different. Maybe it was the look in his eyes. Those mocking eyes where now filled with fear, and something else, could it be remorse? She helped him to their bed and rushed to phone for the ambulance. When she returned she found him with his eyes closed, he was mumbling something.
“ What did you say, can I get you anything?”
“No, please, I need to be alone”
She did not want to leave him. Deep inside she knew that this would be the last opportunity she would have to be with the man she loved so dearly, but she also knew that she could not deny him these last few moments of privacy with his Maker. She quietly left the room, and as she shut the door behind her, she prayed that the God who provided the fruit of the vine, would show mercy to the man who loved it so much.

Suggestion: often time drunk people do not make sense, or slur. Perhaps you could expand on that in your dialogue.
