Bookends are very useful things.
Order from chaos they can bring.
When in rows they are neatly lined
Books are much easier to find.
Invention of the printing press
Something the common man to bless,
As books were printed more and more,
Education flourished for the poor.
Reading for enjoyment too
Was something people now could do.
Public libraries came to be
In the 1800s we see.
Carnegie’s were open for all
Metal bookends helped books not fall.
Beautiful bookends one can buy,
Made to be pleasing to the eye.
Shaped like people, animals and more,
They can add to a home’s décor.
There is a library you know,
The need for bookends does not show.
The Bible’s not one book it’s true,
But 66 are there for you.
Books of the law the first five are.
Next 12, history near and far.
Next come five books of poetry,
Seventeen books of prophecy.
In the New Testament you find
Four Gospels that are well defined.
Acts tells the church’s history.
Letters continue the story.
Prophecy is Revelation,
When work on earth will all be done.
There is no more important book
Upon which you could ever look.
No need for bookends in this case,
Hide it in your heart, the best place.
