Let the rain pour down on me.
Wash away all my iniquities.
Cleanse me from my depression, guilt, and suffering.
The first rain washed my blinded eyes; I could then see the light, the truth of God.
I was awakened to the splendor of our Lord; He led me to His fountain and I drank.
The darkness set in again and I wept. Deeper and deeper I fell into the pit of sorrows.
Through His mercy, He let it rain.
I thought it was torture - sloshing around in my pit of misery and angst.
Then, the rain washed away the sludge.
It covered me and God spoke, “I delight in you, stay here safe in my arms.”
I rejoiced once again and danced in His magnificent glory.
Guided by my own perceptions, I was lead into a tunnel.
Echoing all around me was the voice of obscurity.
Why do I keep rushing back here? Why is this an uncomfortable comfort?
“Lord! Let it rain!”
And He did.
