Topic: Oops (01/14/10)
We spend our life just working.
We toil from dawn to dusk.
We dress up for the work at hand.
We might even wear some musk.

Sometimes we feel important,
Other times just a slave.
Sometimes its open places,
And sometimes in a cave.

We try so hard to get ahead,
To get ourselves on top.
For satisfaction to be felt,
The ball we dare not drop.

We pray our lives are not an “oops”.
That all was not in vain.
That in the end we have some hope,
Of achieving a great gain.

Why do we do it every day?
Why do we work so hard?
It’s surly more than just the pay,
Might be the ego card.

It seems we work just for ourselves,
A dead end street at best.
For in the natural realm of things,
We’ll always fail the test.

The “oops” in this equation,
Is who we’re working for.
If we did it all for Christ,
The meaning would be more.

So if you have a blurry focus,
And your heart is in a bind.
Maybe you should work for God?
The reason for the daily grind.

Wonderful poem here and such deep thoughts. Yes, I certainly hope that when life is over, God will not look at me and say "oops" Great poetry, and great expression of a deep thought

This is pretty well done, a little awkward in a few places, a typo/missing comma, but the rhythm for reading and the syllables are well chosen. I enjoyed the read, it flowed well and there was a good message. What a way to think of "Oops" nice job!

I love poetry anyways and this one was well written.I like the voice and your message is one that we can all reflect on. Nicely put. For the most part the meter and rhythm are right on, only in a couple of places they could be touched up to just a tad more. But all in all this is very good.:0) Keep on writing.
