The news anchor appeared frightened as she methodically listed the events of the last twenty-four hours. She had sort of a deer in the headlights look about her. “All of a sudden” she said, “they were here, and now they’re gone. They’ve disappeared. Reports are that an alien spaceship landed sometime in the night and now hundreds of millions of people are gone.”
Scene after scene of the stacked up pieces of metal on the freeway that were once cars that didn’t even resemble their original shapes were being shown. If you didn’t know that they were once cars and trucks, you wouldn’t be able to tell it from looking at them now.
The news anchor’s voice seemed to quiver as she announced the cameras were cutting to a lady in a farm town somewhere in Iowa. The lady sobbed as she clutched her child’s favorite toy to her breast. “He was here in my arms one minute” she cried “and then all of the sudden he was gone! Someone has taken my baby” she screamed as she fell to her knees and wept uncontrollably.
The camera quickly cut to another all too familiar scene of a worker in an office building. “I don’t get it! It’s all so random” he said, with an almost eary calm in him voice. We’ve been trying to figure it all out but it just doesn’t make any sense. There were ten of us that worked here in this one area. I look around and without a sound, without a warning, four of them are gone. I just don’t get it. We tried calling out their names and looking for them but they’ve just disappeared. People don’t just do that do they” he asked the news anchor. “We searched all thru the building but on every floor, it’s the same thing. People have just disappeared! Somewhere, the gods must be mad at us.”
As the confusion and chaos continued all around the planet laughter could be hear throughout the halls of Heaven. One newly promoted saint leaned over to an angel standing close and whispered, “I had no idea that you could hear this kind of thing here!” The angel turned to the saint and replied, “normally we can’t but just this once, God thought He would let us all in on His little joke. After all, we know what happened to you guys! He came to get you and now you‘re here forever!” “Wow, the saint replied. This is fantastic! It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen and I feel so much love here.I sure don't miss all of that junk there on earth!” “Yeah”, the angel replied, "It's wonderful like this all of the time! And by the way, have you ever seen the sky a more beautiful shade of blue?”
