Can something be empty and full at the same time? Long ago in a distance land a few women came upon just a place something empty but full. They approached this place full of questions but only had more when they arrived. For what they expected to be full, to human eyes was empty. Now if your mind is full of questions let me clear some things up. The place was a tomb in Jerusalem, the women were followers of Jesus, and the missing part was the crucified body of Christ.
Even if the tomb appeared empty it wasn’t for it was filled with many things unseen.
Let me explain, while the women looked at an empty tomb a number of the followers of Jesus were gather in an upper room in fear of what the authorities may do to them. When the women came and told them the tomb was empty and that Jesus had appeared they suspected the women of being so sad they were seeing things. Yet these fear filled men went on to preach and teach the Gospel, the good news of the death, burial and resurrection so in the tomb that was empty there was courage.
Others throughout the ages have been able to face many hardships believing that the empty tomb held hope in a life beyond the grave. Many see within the empty tomb proof that God is faithful to His every word. We, believers of Jesus, have a faith because in that empty tomb was the power for the story to be told through out the years and celebrated by many.
I guess something empty can be full and I for one am glad for the empty or should I say full tomb. Only God in his wisdom, and power could make something so empty be so full.
Dear Lord,
: Help us to empty our hearts and minds of worldly thoughts and feelings and fill them with the unseen things that filled the empty tomb. Amen
