Zoom! is not the word
to describe the break-neck speed
we moved at towards Pittsburgh, PA.
A carload in silence,
hearts pounding on our throats
driving at 80, turning on 90 mph
t'was a journey of the swift.
Weren't we glad that
vast farmlands of Virginia,
deceived our eyes?
Captured our uneasiness?
We laugh about it later
for we had to be there
when the clock struck twelve.

for our beloved's wedding.
God was with us.

Sounded a little bit like a panic attack, until I realized that God was the one to "get you to the church on time"!! (Quote is from My Fair Lady, in case you don't recognize it...)

Frank, I enjoyed your poem, but unfortunately, at just 84 words, it was way under the minimum word count allowed for challenge entries. The minimum allowed is 150 words, and the maximum is 750. I hope you'll enter again, but just keep those word count limits in mind. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
