When was the last time we met?
I know I have not been around.
I'm sorry I've made you upset.
I've been away on my own
for far too long now.
I ran away so foolishly
for wrongs I'd not normally allow.
These evils I allowed
only caused you and I pain.
They wedged us apart.
Oh why wouldn't I refrain?
If I could have one more chance,
I'd make my life right.
Please forgive me, God,
for my heart is contrite.
Christmas is coming,
which means your gift of the cross.
Your death was love's choice,
saying life for us was not a loss.
I want to come back to you.
I've made up my mind.
I can search for love
but like yours never find.
You chose life for me,
and to give it suffered and died.
So for you I give up myself,
and in you forever abide.
I choose to surrender and obey,
and never again roam.
I never want to leave
My God, My True and Only Home!
