There is a gulf,
A huge, gaping gulf that should not exist,
Dividing those who should not have been divided.
It is a gulf that seems insurmountable
And all stand and stare astonished
With no hope that they shall ever experience what comes from the other side.
Only one knew what needed to be done to defeat the gulf,
That deep, dark, unfathomable gulf,
But it would require great, personal sacrifice
And trials that could threaten to be his undoing.
It took much planning to begin the attack on the gulf
And few were aware of the beginnings of its execution,
For the gulf must be taken by surprise.
Then, in a sudden rush, the gulf was gone!
Replaced by a bridge, sound and strong
And the way was barred no more.
But the plan was not accomplished yet,
For the gulf fought to recover its loss
And defamed the bridge to the stranded.
The one set up a task force
And called them to be guides,
Signposts pointing to the bridge,
Eternally defeating the gulf.
