The good and bad, glad and sad, and funny ones as well.
The top tale would be of Grandpa, who couldn’t hear the best,
So no matter what the caller said, he always answered “yes”.
You can picture all the trouble this situation brought---
Like the ornate grand piano, he accidentally bought;
The day it got delivered to our tiny little house,
All the neighbours came to see what the ruckus was about.
There was Grandpa in his shirtsleeves, protesting loud and long,
Insisting the dumb driver must have got the address wrong!
Well it eventually got sorted, despite our chagrin,
And the memory was special to everyone but him:
We watched closely from then on, to prevent a repeat,
But the grand piano tale is folklore on our street.
If there’s a moral to the story, I guess it should be,
Be careful who takes phone calls in your family;
If your grandpa’s hard of hearing keep him from the phone;
Prevent grand pianos being delivered to your home!!
