I think many of us would be surprised how useful this message actually could be for us today. After all, which of us hasn’t lost sleep at night, reflecting on poor decisions, replaying conversations, or running through our list of past mistakes? Why do we do this to ourselves, especially us who call ourselves Christians? Does not the word of God say “Be joyful always; pray continuously; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (NIV 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, emphasis mine).
So, my challenge for us is this—give it to God. In all circumstances, even bad, with every mistake, let us not dwell on the negative that is already done; but instead, let us look toward the hope that is the future. The hope that God has the power to turn any situation into something positive according to His will.
Take your confidence from Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV):
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
