Having arrived home, I stumbled my way through our comfortable home of thirty years. As I made my way to the bedroom, I tried to avoid looking at the pictures of the many smiling faces of family and friends, on the hallway wall, as they seemed to stare at me with sympathy in their eyes. As I entered the bedroom, I dragged my feet the last few steps and fell up on the bed. “Oh dear God!” I cried. Seemingly, I lay there for hours weeping and crying out to God, but after only a short time, I sat up reaching for the worn Bible on my nightstand. Longing for comfort, I opened the Bible and fell upon the book of Psalms. As I began to read I began to weep. “Dear Father,” I sobbed “Thank you for your promise that you will never leave me. No matter what I must go through You will be right there to carry me through.”
Wither shall I go from thy spirit? or wither shall I flee from they presence? Psalms 139:7

This is a great start. I didn't quite connect with the mc, but would have liked to. Pull me in, make me feel her pain, don't let me just observe. I want to know her anguish. I want to cry with her. I want to want to reach out and hug her.
Good job & keep writing.
